Hair is deeply connected to how we feel about ourselves. For many people, noticing more hair in the shower, a widening part, a receding hairline, or thinning around the temples can feel frustrating and even emotional. Hair changes are often one of the first signs that something in the body has shifted. While hair loss is common, it is not something you simply have to accept.

At Therahaus Wellness Medspa, we believe beautiful, healthy hair starts with understanding the why behind your hair loss. Instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we look at the complete picture: your hormones, health history, lifestyle, nutrition, and the health of your hair follicles to create a personalized treatment plan.

Our goal is not just to help you grow hair — it is to help you feel like yourself again.

Why Does Hair Loss Happen?

Hair growth is a complex process influenced by genetics, hormones, circulation, inflammation, and overall health. Many different factors can contribute to thinning or shedding, including:

  • Genetics: Androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) is the most common cause of hair thinning in both men and women and is influenced by genetics and hormone sensitivity.
  • Hormonal changes: Hormones play a major role in the hair growth cycle. Changes related to aging, postpartum shifts, perimenopause, menopause, testosterone changes, and thyroid dysfunction can all impact hair density and shedding.
  • Stress and lifestyle factors: Illness, major stress, rapid weight changes, poor sleep, and nutritional deficiencies can trigger increased shedding.
  • Nutritional deficiencies: Low levels of certain nutrients, including iron, vitamin D, zinc, and B vitamins, may contribute to changes in hair growth.
  • Autoimmune conditions: Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, leading to sudden, round or oval patches of hair loss.
  • Scalp and follicle health: A healthy scalp environment is essential for supporting strong, healthy follicles.
  • Infections: Several infections can contribute to hair loss, either by directly affecting the scalp or by triggering inflammation that disrupts the normal hair growth cycle. Some of the most common include tinea capitis (scalp ringworm) and folliculitis.

The key to successful hair restoration is identifying what is contributing to your specific hair changes.

Looking Beyond the Hair: Hormones and Lab Testing

One of the things that makes our approach at Therahaus unique is that we do not just look at the hair — we look at the person attached to it. For many patients, hair loss can be a sign of underlying changes happening within the body. Depending on your symptoms and history, we may recommend laboratory testing to evaluate factors that can influence hair health.

Labs may include evaluating:

  • Thyroid function
  • Iron and ferritin levels
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Hormone levels
  • Metabolic health markers
  • Other factors that may impact hair growth

Hormones are especially important when evaluating hair concerns. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and other hormones can influence the hair growth cycle. As hormone levels shift throughout different stages of life, many patients notice changes in thickness, texture, and shedding.

By understanding what is happening internally, we can create a more targeted approach rather than simply treating the outward symptom. At Therahaus Wellness Medspa, we combine regenerative treatments, medical therapies, and wellness optimization to support healthier follicles and long-term results.

PRP Hair Restoration

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) uses your body’s own natural healing factors to support the hair growth process. The process begins with a simple blood draw, similar to what you would experience during routine lab work. A small amount of your own blood is collected into a specialized tube and then placed into a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood at a specific speed to separate and concentrate the platelets and growth factors from the other components of the blood.

This concentrated PRP contains important signaling proteins and growth factors that play a role in tissue repair, healing, and regeneration. Once prepared, the PRP is carefully injected into areas of the scalp where thinning or decreased hair density is present.

When injected into areas of thinning hair, PRP may help:

  • Stimulate and support hair follicles
  • Encourage healthier, thicker hair growth
  • Improve hair density
  • Create an optimal environment for follicle function

Because PRP works by supporting your body’s natural regeneration processes, results are gradual and natural-looking. The goal is not to create an artificial change, but to help your existing follicles function at their best. Many patients notice changes over several months, with continued improvement as the follicles are supported over time.

Exosome Hair Restoration

Regenerative medicine continues to evolve, and exosome therapy is one of the most exciting advancements in the field of hair restoration. While treatments like PRP use your body’s own platelets and growth factors, exosomes therapy uses powerful cellular messengers designed to support communication between cells and promote a healthier environment for regeneration.

Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles released naturally by cells. Think of them as “messengers” that help cells communicate with one another. They carry important signaling molecules, including proteins and growth factors, that can influence processes such as repair, regeneration, and cellular communication. When used in regenerative aesthetics, exosomes are designed to support the body’s natural healing pathways and encourage a healthier cellular environment.

Exosomes may support hair restoration by helping to:

  • Promote communication between cells involved in follicle health
  • Support a healthier scalp environment
  • Encourage follicles to remain in the active growth phase of the hair cycle
  • Improve the overall regenerative process around thinning areas

Similarly to PRP, the goal of exosome therapy is not to create a dramatic or artificial change, but to support the function of existing follicles and optimize the conditions needed for healthier hair growth.

Prescription Hair Restoration Treatments

For some patients, prescription medications are an important part of achieving and maintaining results. Depending on your individual situation, we may recommend medication to target specific causes of hair loss and support long-term hair health.

Recommendations are personalized based on:

  • Your type and pattern of hair loss
  • Hormone levels
  • Age and health history
  • Treatment goals
  • Risk and benefit considerations

For many patients, the best results come from combining treatments — addressing hair loss from multiple angles by supporting the follicle, improving the scalp environment, and treating contributing internal factors.

Hair Restoration for Men and Women

Hair loss does not discriminate. Men may notice a receding hairline, thinning crown, or overall decreased density. Women often experience diffuse thinning, increased shedding, widening parts, or changes in hair texture.

While hair loss may look different between men and women, the emotional impact is often the same. Early evaluation and intervention can provide more opportunities to protect and support healthy follicles.
